Who we are

The Friends of Paterno Trivium Ltd. was certified as a public charity a 501 (c) (3) organization on June 16, 2010 by the Internal Revenue Service. The effective date of exemption was March 27, 2009.

MISSION STATEMENT, incorporated in the Certificate of Incorporation:

The corporation is formed for the purpose of acting as the steward for The Paterno Trivium, a non- enclosed Greenstreet’s project located at W. 187th Street in Manhattan where Cabrini Boulevard and Pinehurst Avenue converge. In furtherance of this charitable purpose, the Corporation shall promote the care of The Paterno Trivium as a green space in an urban environment and a meeting place for members of the Community.

In furtherance of the promotion of the public good, the activities of the Corporation shall include:

(a) working with the New York City Department of Parks and recreation, which has primary responsibility for the basic maintenance of The Paterno Trivium;

(b) fundraising, including the solicitation of donations and the application for grants to support the promotion and care of The Paterno Trivium;

(c) promoting and organizing community volunteering efforts to care for The Paterno Trivium;

(d) promoting community events which utilize The Paterno Trivium as a meeting place;

(e) promoting the history and formation of the surrounding neighborhood; and

(f) conducting all lawful activities which may be useful in accomplishing the foregoing purposes.
